Today the IOTA Foundation has announced integration with the Ledger hardware wallet making it possible to secure your IOTA tokens away from a computer or phone, significantly improving security.
This news marks an important milestone for the IOTA project. Before the much-welcomed release of Trinity in May 2018, users had to settle for a functional, though less than user-friendly, desktop wallet.
The arrival of Trinity provided a better experience and many essential features such as a secure seed generator, but couldn’t completely protect from threats that arise from compromised devices. Ledger solves this problem.
Ledger supporting IOTA was the result of a fruitful collaboration:
“Providing the highest level of security and quality is a major focus at both Ledger and IOTA,” said Eric Larchevêque, CEO at Ledger. “The collaboration between the teams created an immediate synergy concentrated on developing a compatibility feature allowing users to access, store and manage IOTA tokens on Ledger devices. We are thrilled to welcome IOTA onto the Ledger platform.”
